MCWP 3-11.2 Marine Rifle Squad

Hi Folks,

First of all, I want to commend the team on achieving a great "feeling" game. Perfectly nails the 30 seconds of fun per Jaime Griesemer on the Halo franchise. The small tweaks and updates are having a phenomenal impact on the prototype they have provided us. This game feels like it has the potential to be incredibly innovative and groundbreaking once the vision has been realized.

This feature may already be planned, but I think it would be highly important for this game to provide an extensive training sequence based on marine rifle squad doctrine. Not only would the player learn the game mechanics, but also, the player would build this feeling of confidence and invincibility prior to battle. Let me explain.

All battles are traumatic, and Fallujah represented a specific type of trauma for the infantry involved in the battle that should be felt by players. Stanley Kubrick' s Full Metal Jacket was able to achieve this feeling by having two distinct parts of the movie: Bootcamp, then War. Other movies and film have used the routine and order of bootcamp to juxtapose the chaos and fog of war. This jarring realization that you are expendable along with your training, equipment and comrades should be understood through depictions of casevac, discordant radio chatter, team ai weapons jamming, team ai complaining a la Full Spectrum Warrior etc.

I believe this feature would be a safe ground to launch AI fireteams, Iraqi Forces and other NPCs for the community to react to...

Thanks for drafting this post for us and welcome to the forums!

We have plans to improve our onboarding process through Training (and other means), and we'll add this thread to the list.
