Shotgun sound

My only issue with the weapons sound is shotgun shooting sound. It's too quiet, it feels like there is suppressor attached to the shotgun. I hope im not only one who thinks that way. But other than that, great job!

I agree, I like the actual sound of it but it should be much louder.

Showed the game to a friend today and he asked if the shotgun was suppressed, lol.

I love the shotgun, not sure why many don't as it's vital for plethora of reasons. But yes, it feels weak, and I thinks the sound. It doesn't feel like it had that kick, that bang, that hey I just open this door and now your chest.

We are used to games and movies using a poetic version of the sound of a shotgun. In fact this is one of the very few games where the sound of this weapon is proplerly done.

You honestly cant judge the sound of a weapon from a YouTube video where the camera already adjusts to the noise and the compression of the video, the shotgun sounds a bit too "suppressed" so to say, but it's early access and im sure the sounds will change for all the weapons.

Yeah, I know there's some audio compression on youtube, but the guy use some good stuffs to make these videos.

I was once close to firefight and one of the armed bank security guards fired a 12-gauge. No idea what weapon it was. I was surprised, because the sound is completely different from what I was used to heard in movies or series. Nothing close. The same goes for pistol or rifle shots that I've heard around here (live in Rio de Janeiro, so pretty much common). For me, the game is consistent with reality. Really consistent. In real life all of them looks supressed, but REALLY REALLY loud when you're close.

As rodrigoxm49 touched on, you can get an idea and depending on the equipment used, positioning of the microphone(s), etc., that plays a big part in how gunfire sounds in a video compared to real life.

As a gunowner / shooter, I can say that videos can't really compare to "being there", but some are better than others at providing a sense of sound, effects, etc.

I'm sure there are a lot of aspects of SDiF that will be adjusted, added and removed prior to launch but it's people like the ones here discussing such things that let the devs know that maybe it needs attention. .....or at least to help let folks know why it is the way it is.

And there's also something I forgot to mention. The sound through headphones, especially the cheaper ones, is completely different from the sound you hear through a good pair of speakers, especially if it has a subwoofer (2.1 system). Maybe they need to tweak the midrange frequency a bit to have a better experience on headphones, after all the game is made for it. But listening here with a Edifier 2.1, I can say this game hits the spot.
