We don't play with randoms anymore

A friend and I play together and don't join servers anymore to play with randoms. I think people co-operate in SDIF better than any other co-op combat game I've played simply because to do otherwise in SDIF is simply stupid. But even so, it can be like trying to make a bunch of puppies obey your commands. Whenever I do join others, the players want to clear every building when most times, it's totally unnecessary to the mission. If you can beat the mission without exposing yourself to lethal indoor combat, why not do so? My second nitpick is that players move though the map way too fast. The missions shouldn't be played like a race.

We had another "teammate" but differing political perspectives ruined that relationship. We had one more guy whom I've played with since the original Ghost Recon but he served in Iraq and can't come anywhere near this game.

Clearing buildings leads to clearing weapon caches, which improves overall score for the point hunters. Same goes for optional, emergent objectives. There's some incentive there, and you're free to decide if this is important to you (or not).

We're also taking a look at the onboarding for the game, specifically around using tactics, that should help matchmaking with randoms.
