Hello Soldiers, welcome to my IED guide!
This guide will go over IED/VBIED Visuals, Disarming, Spotters, Marking, and Neutralizing
Please comment if there is anything you would like to add/correct, I will edit this post to reflect useful information
*note- My graphical settings are lower end, be aware that items in your game may look slightly different

ROADSIDE IEDs and VISUALS
Firstly, 'roadside IEDs' are a type of explosive ordnance within the game, that may trigger an explosion in its immediate radius. Corroborating with its name, you will tend to find such ordinances lying on the edges of streets. These roadside IEDs are a prevalent obstacle in the mission 'OBJECTIVE VIRGINIA', you must mark these IEDs or risk your friendly vehicles being destroyed. However, it is important to note that 'roadside IEDs' have a chance of showing up as a secondary objective in other operations. Roadside IEDs may detonate from Spotters, Friendly vehicle proximity, or Indirect RPG fire(allegedly). The only way to disarm these types of IEDs is by marking them

Roadside IEDs can take on a variety of different looks, 4 examples of this may be found below this chapter--

VBIEDs and VISUALS
Vehicle-Borne IEDs are another type of explosive ordnance that you may find yourself fighting in Fallujah. VBIEDs are a dangerous enemy asset, as they can be seen driving toward you/friendly vehicles or lying stationary before exploding when you are close enough. Mobile VBIEDs take some punishment before being neutralized, so it is important to have distance from the vehicle before engaging. VBIEDs are most prevalent in 'Objective Virginia' and 'Phase Line Henry' but stationary VBIEDs have been found in other operations.

Currently, VBIEDs may take the form of an SUV of various colours (Red, Black, White) or a White Lorry/Box Truck. 4 examples of all of these may be found below this chapter--

Objective IEDs and VISUALS
Exclusively on the mission 'Apartments' you will have an IED as an objective that you must disarm, currently, this is the only mission in the game with this type of IED asset. This obj. IED will not explode and will pose little risk to your fireteam but it must be disarmed to complete the mission. It is important to note that this IED emits a beeping noise, which allows you to locate the IED within the Apt.Complex. As with the aforementioned IEDs, this ordnance can take on different looks. 2 examples of these Objective IEDs can be seen below this chapter--

Obj. IED v1

Obj. IED v2

Disarming
Currently, the only type of IED that may be disarmed in Fallujah is the Obj. IED. This disarm is fundamental in completing the mission 'Apartments' and cannot be bypassed. To disarm this IED, you must walk up to the ordnance close enough for a prompt to appear. By default, the game will ask you to press 'F' to disarm IED. Once you press your keybind to disarm, your character will take the beeping electronic off the ordnance, thus disarming the IED. An example of a prompt disarm can be found below this chapter--

Spotters
The ever-elusive spotter plays a big role in the mission 'Objective Virginia'. The Spotter insurgents will attempt to detonate any roadside IED that you or your friendly armour comes within close proximity of. The Spotter will look like an ordinary Insurgent (usually wearing black) and will be holding binoculars. You will be verbally notified on the radio when a Spotter is posing a risk to you or your armor. It is critical that the Spotter is killed as soon as possible to prevent them from triggering nearby IEDs. These spotters are very hard to find and are usually stood stationary on a rooftop or at the end of an alley, that has LOS on the IED it is determined to detonate. (image of the spotter will be added once acquired)

Marking
The marking mechanic is currently used to identify roadside IEDs and stationary VBIEDs. Roadside IEDs must first be marked to ensure that passing armor does NOT trigger the IED (Spotters may still pose a risk). Similarly to disarming, you must move close enough to the ordnance to ensure that you are given a prompt to mark the IED/VBIED. Importantly, the prompt for marking roadside IEDs is usually on an adjacent wall which can be seen in the images below this chapter. Upon pressing your keybind (defaulted to 'F') your character will spray paint a big arrow that points out the IED to friendly armor--

Neutralizing
So now that we know all about ordnance, how exactly do we destroy them ?
Well, currently you can only destroy VBIEDs. Attempts to destroy roadside IEDs with grenades or gunfire will not trigger them. The weapons for the job seem to be the 'Team Leads' 40MM GL or the 'Fire' roles M249 SAW. The 40MM GL will instantly kill the driver of any type of VBIED in the game and stands to be the best weapon for neutralizing them. However, the SAW is also a great choice due to the immense fire rate that you can throw at the VBIED drivers. Once the drivers are dead, the vehicle will veer to the left or right before ultimately exploding a short few seconds later. It is important to note that VBIEDs have quite a high health pool, so it is critical that all of your fireteam is aware of these enemy assets.

Contrastingly to roadside IEDs, stationary VBIEDs may be manually destroyed with the 40MM GL (other weaponry yet to be tested)

This concludes the IED guide. I hope that this guide was useful, and I wish you luck on your next mission ! - Myrrah :D
