Option to choose weapon

Will there or is there a way to choose your role/weapon when playing solo? I'd like to be able to be LMG or Engineer when solo.

Yes. Go into wargaming. You can set all of the game settings there and play however you wish.

That depends. There is a setting where you can select your class but everyone has to be a different class. In this setting you will get the points. There is another option where players can all be the same class. In this setting you do not get the points. Either way, if you are not going to get the points, it will tell you in bright red letters at the top to warn you so it's fairly easy to figure out.

This is correct. "Ranked Selection" will award points in Wargame Mode but "Unrestricted Roles" will not.
I'll add OP's suggestion to the community wishlist to improve this for our solo community.
