Reduce Combatants for Single Player

Hello

I understand the game is developed for a 4 man team, but if I don't feel like going online to find players, I'm experiencing games where I last (no joke) 15 seconds which really removes the fun factor as I spend more time staring at the quotes on the load screens more than I do kicking down doors or being put into tense situations.

Any chance of reducing the amount of insurgents in 1 player games during early access to get a better player experience?

The game is a work of art and I can't wait for more content. I'd just like the ability to immerse myself in the environment a bit more to develop the proper skills once I really start joining the online community.

Cheers

We appreciate the feedback on this. I'm curious if anyone else has any thoughts on the difficulty for solo players, too.

I'll track this thread.

I think it's not bad idea, altough im not playing right now (console player) but i think that sometimes i would like to play solo just for fun and joy. So yeah reduced insurgents would be good idea if playing solo.

game shouldn't be altered for solo play since it doesn't make sense or fit the theme of the game. i'd focus on implementing ai team mates and expanding the size of the player team from 4 to 13

Ai teammates won't show up for months. That's why I'm inquiring if it's possible to implement. Getting yelled at by online players (kids) reduces the fun factor when I'd also like to play the game somehow to learn the mechanics.

Single player is way too hard at the moment, there is no enjoyment in playing single player your dead withing 30 seconds of joining, enemy Ai always seems to know exactly where you are even if you make no noise, they have lightning reactions times, and can spot you even when you are behind cover, Love the game, but at the moment its a no go for me.

Re: Reduce Combatants for Single Player

Solo playing is possible after latest update, because you have more time to accomplish mission objectives. It is important to move slowly, step by step. Hiding in places when you have 360° wall-like protections. The less noise we make, the better. While crouching you can kill enemies from a distance and they won't even notice you (while they're on the roof - not sure if it's a bug, sometimes you can crouch like 300 metres from them without getting noticed). It is enjoyable when you have connection issues (like today I've got from unknown reason).

Additionally - enemies are mostly rushing at you in small groups (2-4 men) making it easier to eliminate them. They should move in player's position from different angles. Also few of them are carrying explosive belt (at least it looks like shahid belt) but never seen them trying to denotate themselves. In most cases, suicide bombers detonate when out of ammo or surrounded by the enemies. It would be a nice feature. Not sure how popular for Al Quaeda ''martyrdom operations'' were. But for ISIS it was very very common (about 10 years since Fallujah battle).

Re: Reduce Combatants for Single Player

IMO, this is not a single player. This is multiplayer that you can attempt by yourself. The Fireteam Mode even indicates this. Until AI is added and the Campaign opens up, you do not have a single-player mode. Please do not simplify the game. As a matter of fact, many players want the game to become more challenging.

My two cents....

While I don't believe the game should be made easier for everyone playing solo (not all would like that), I think an option to do so would be great. Heck, I'd even like to see an option for those playing with others but I know this could come with its own challenges in matchmaking scenarios. ....folks pairing up with randoms already deal with their own set of issues. Playing with friends where you can all agree on what difficulty to choose is different.

Anyhow, solo players are only in the game by themselves so why not? It doesn't affect anyone else. I'd even go as far as to suggest the option across the board if you can find a way to do it right. The bigger concern for me though is how the game is made easier (e.g. adjusting TTK, buffing players, reducing enemies, etc.). Altering some of those aspects can make the gameplay experience worse IMO.

Personally, I already know my friends and I (when the game comes out on PS5) will certainly struggle. We're old dudes and even though some in the group have tactical experience (e.g. retired military / law enforcement), our reflexes, etc. have dulled over time. It's not uncommon for us to be steamrolled in PvP shooters but we still have fun. lol

Anyhow, I think it would be nice to have the option to dial the difficulty back if we need to (especially when first getting used to the game) and work up to the harder level as we get better at communication, tactics, coordination and the game mechanics.

Either way, we're still looking forward to playing SDiF even if there is no option to scale the difficulty back. Adjusting the clock to allow more time was a good move IMO and quite frankly, while I understand the intention, I wish there was also a way to play without it. I know my friends and I will want to take our time. I can't really think of too many games where mission timers made me like a game more.

Re: Reduce Combatants for Single Player

I do play solo occasionally and would not be interested in less enemies or somehow reducing the difficulty. I simply do it for practice for when I play with a squad. The entire foundation of this game is cooperative play and IMHO, tweaking it for solo play is a waste of dev time and effort. The thought of infiltrating the city as the game characterizes it as a solo combatant just seems a bit strange to me.
