Ranking system
Can someone provide some detailed clarification on how the ranking system works? how do you make progress through ranks and how much do optional objectives affect progress? Do blue on blues affect progress adversely? Any details would be great.

Same. I didn't notice a progress bar. (Did i make score plus time in service? lol) it's been 3 successful missions and i got my PFC stripes. I've also notice your achievement doesn't go through until you have completed another mission with your new stripes.

Mission success awards points and friendly fire does indeed prevent you from earning the maximum amount of experience. There's more work to be done on communicating this to players via visual feedback, and we have plans for this in the future.

Highest Rank you can obtain right now is 2nd LT. I just got it today at level 155.

Do you know if there are any plans to reset ranks and high scores on our accounts when release happens?

I had the apartment mission bug out on me as a FIRE (SAW Gunner) and decided to go on the roof to shoot Beowolf with 2 box mags or something. Turns out the mission was not completely bugged and was still complete-able.

It said promotion, right? But it was a negative promotion. I came into the mission as a Staff Sergeant with 50% completion. Exited the mission as a Sergeant with 3%-ish progress.
I got NJP'd real hard... Then promoted the other way round

I love the ranking system. Rank based off of a multitude of factors like blue-on-blue, mission objective completions, mission completions. It makes it so teams actually have to work together to increase in rank.
A suggestion would be to add E-8 and E-9 ranks (I believe enlisted only goes up to E-7 right now). I also think that leadership should play into obtaining the Officer rank (should have a requirement that you have to successfully complete x amount of missions as team lead with x amount of points to become an officer, and once obtained, increase the difficulty to move up the officer ranks).

As you can see, there's also something called "MentalEdge", which, if I interpreted it right, seems to give you a temporary health boost. But I'm not sure if it's actually already implemented, or just in the planning stage.

Yo yo yo this is extremely useful! So check this, I did the math and it checks out...
1) Start of Match, 50% Completion of SSgt.: 325,000 XP
2) End of Match, demotion to ~3% Completion of Sgt.: 150,000XP
3) Demoted XP: 325,000 - 150,000 = 175,000 XP
4) # of Friendly Fire Hits: 175,000 XP / 500 = 350 times
Conclusion, 350 rounds shot outta my M249 onto Beowolf sounds about right. Faaaaaak
