Contextual commands sound kind of boring

From the gameplay video it seems like the only way to command your squad will be like this: you aim at something, press one key, and the game will decide what order to issue. I hope I'm wrong though. I would much more prefer more advanced squad order system like in SWAT 4, or ARMA 3, meaning each command would be in an order menu, so you can tell your squad to hold at any point, follow you, cover a specific area etc. The way commanding your squad was shown in the trailer sounds limiting.

I totally see where you are coming from, but may I politely also bring up that the footage we saw today was pre-alpha footage and is likely subject to change.

I've tested many different games in closed pre-alpha/alpha including Insurgency Sandstorm and things in that game changed a couple time just during the short test we did.

That being said I don't think you're wrong at all, and agree with you that a more complex and less simplistic command menu would be desirable.

Considering that we only saw early gameplay, I'm curious to see how commands are going to handled.
Is it simply just pointing at something and the AI dynamically knows what to do, or will there be some level of selection (i.e. SWAT) in ordering your squad's action?
I saw that certain command cues had either a blue or red color. Does this mean that the player have some level of selection or is it based on a given circumstance?

No problem. Hopefully, you guys can implement some complexity to the commands (if that hasn't been tested yet). I think having a selection list would provide the players some thought on how to approach a situation.

I would also like to ask on this issue if we can give individual orders to each member of the squad or only orders to the whole group as a single indivisible set.
I think it would be good to be able to individually order each member in which place or position to place, depending on the situation.
The same tactic is not used to open a door and enter a room as to defend or stand as an observation point on a rooftop.
Greetings.

I'm hoping there is an orders menu of some kind. (Probably similar to but not as complex as Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising/Red River.) but the context command (Which SWAT 4 also had) existing as a "quick" command.
So you don't have to dig through a menu to order suppressing fire.

In the latest interview, they brought up the go command and said they want you to command your team fast without a menu to go through and they also said that when they asked Marines how they gave orders to their team they said they just pointed and they already knew what to do but I also agree with the quick command paired with a command menu for more complex orders for example have your team stack on a door and give them options to breach like kicking in the door, flash and breach, breaching charge, etc

I think having a mix of the two would be cool.
