I saw on the Dead Space remake reveal a little while back that the developers researched the heart rate and breathing patters of an individual under certain emotional or physical stressors. They made the audio reflect that.
Has the idea of physical indications of stress been considered? Example: after a gunfight, you get the chills and the shakes due to the released adrenaline. Or perhaps your breathing labors, or your eyes get sweat in them.

Re: Breathing - Stress
There have been some discussions on this. At the very least, you guys can expect some of this talked about in the documentary segments.
As far as audio is concerned, we're leveraging it as one of the most powerful tools we have for storytelling. More on this in the upcoming SITREP soon.
