IMO text chat shouldn’t be added. One of the key parts of sound design is the disorientation caused by sustained combat, which results in issues team communication issues that IMO enhance the immersion. Having a text chat defeats that purpose.
If I may suggest a compromise, I think utilizing the already existing “tap spacebar for your character to give callouts” system and making it so tapping the space bar brings up a few options for needed callouts based on the context of where you are looking. Players can select one, and then their player characters will say it without people needing to turn on a mic. This gives micless players options to communicate without compromising immersion.
If I really wanted to be ambitious I would say this same setup could be used for ordering AI teammates for when they come, but I want to see how the Go Command works before I make it an official suggestion.

Text chat will for sure make people not use their microphone, it will be the death of teamwork.
