I am getting a cloud error through steam that won't let me connect to the service also.
it appears epic games is having a problem on their end that may be causing this

This is/or was a steam related issue. I know it's a few hours past the last post but it was a bug discussion on the discord at the time. Many games to include this one were having sync errors. I do hope steam had resolved their problem by now.
