Is firing the M203 40mm projectile or hitscan based?

Is firing the M203 40mm projectile or hitscan based?

Surely can't be hitscan, I'm trying on holding off watching any videos so I don't get spoiled, but I did see the first Devildog gamer vid he posted and when he started using it, it looked like hitscan but with a slight delay on impact.

Great! I did find the audio volume for the M203 to be a bit quiet (at least from the footage), but that being said, I've never fired one, lol.
