Will AI Teammates still be a thing?

I noticed on the Veterans gameplay videos whenever they play Solo they have no friendly bots under their command.

Will AI squads that we can command still be a thing?

Bump -- this is a good question. Perhaps they weren't available due to remaining dev work?

Re: Will AI Teammates still be a thing?

Hey guys,

I was waiting until we made our announcement today to update everyone on this. From our EA FAQ:

Can I play the fireteam cooperative mode solo with AI teammates?

Not quite yet. Although we could easily stick some friendly bots in the game right now, we have very ambitious plans for our single-player experience, starting with much better ways for players to direct this team during combat. Since it's really important that we get this right, we decided not to release any AI teammate capabilities until it's ready.

In the meantime, you can play the game solo. It's just very challenging.

we need to polish up our teammate AI (it's actually pretty far along) and build our first campaign mission, which we'll release in Early Access once it's ready.

So the campaign missions have not been made yet?

We have started building Campaign missions, but a big part of these missions has been tuning friendly AI to perform at the quality we want. This is why we've put this part of the game on hold, for now.

Amper are you able to give a comparison to a game that is comparable to controlling the AI?

Like Ghost Warrior or something like that. Obviously not how they behave but for the squad functions and controls on moving the team around on the map and doing entries into the building?

Or is this information going to be saved for a SITREP to showcase when it is ready?

This game was born from a game called Close Combat: First to Fight (Fun fact of where this game was born from back in the day). That would probably have the closest game with similar AI controls and that game is almost 20 years old.
