I worked around this problem by setting the HUD to permanent (always visible). The mag check always works in this mode.

This is a hard one. It does not occur when I play co-op with AI mates. And it doesn't occur when I play co-op solo. It only occurs when I play co-op with another person. I am the host.

Just about every time I do a mag check now, I get the animation but I don't get the text to the right that tells me how many bullets are left in my mag. Occasionally, it works but most times it does not. My gaming mates have confirmed that this happens for them too.

UPDATE: It would seem that the lag was on my end. I was suffering from severely high latency issues ("bufferbloat"). I enabled QoS on my router and made my PC highest priority and updated my router's firmware. My latency both up and down dropped dramatically!
