I agree with this. Currently it seems there is a timer but for no reason. I think what the OP is asking to put a meaning behind the timer besides mission failed. Apartment building one could be as simple as the one of the Marines that you rescue on the roof bleeds out from GSWs.

I think the number this should be increased to is 13. 13 is the Marine Squad size in 2004. Just having 8 would make it lose some of its authenticity...unless that last fireteam is just there proving SBF from a nearby building.

IMO, this is not a single player. This is multiplayer that you can attempt by yourself. The Fireteam Mode even indicates this. These loadouts are deeply rooted in the stories that have been shared with us. There may be an opportunity to flex smaller pieces of equipment, but as it stands now: you have a specific kit that the fireteam depends on. so uh, kind of a necro but question. what kind of thing are we going with here?...

With 4 player co-op, there is no need for server rentals.

However, if this were to expand in the future to 13 man squads (not announced) then I could see a need for some kind of hosting but peer-to-peer could still suffice depending on how the hosting works with game optimization.

Yea super effective at engagements within 25 yards...however...once outside that it becomes useless and you should actually use your sights. Accuracy should decrease in this aiming mode significantly. Also keep in mind, that you are playing as a 03 infantryman in 2004/2005....most of these dudes wer...
